    Resident Reviews of Cowden Hall

Currently live in this dorm at the time of posting this and this is my second school year living in the same room. The actual student rooms are spacious and aside from Cowden being the only dorm on campus without sinks in the rooms that is fairly nice. It is also in a really great central location as it is next to the union and, if you have a car, directly lined up next to one of the resident parking lots and across from the covered parking garage. I've also heard horror stories about the constant fire alarms, but in my three semesters in this building I can safely say it has only gone off 5 or 6 times and some were middle of the night drills. That is also however the only positive thing I can say about the dorm and it's staff. The heat in the room last school year barely worked, and this year it didn't work at all when the university turned the heat on. The CA on call when we first brought it to attention told both my mother and I that I needed to turn the thermostat that was already all the way up on and that it was a problem for my room and my room alone. It was not in fact a problem for my room alone but instead was a problem in the entire wing of the building. Facility services was amazing when it came to getting it fixed and even came to check in with me later on to make sure it was still on, though knowing it was an issue in the third floor east wing the CAs still told us it was a problem for just our room once again when the heat shut off in the wing once again during the most recent set of snowstorms. The restrooms are always trashed on the third floor to the point of there being used hygiene products hanging in the showers. You can't go a month without at least one washer or dryer going out of commission on your floor, and most of the time it involves someone ripping a door off a washer and it won't be fixed for over a month. The third floor kitchen is closed for weeks on end at least once a semester due to residents leaving the place a mess. A broken
