The wifi connection was extremely slow and unreliable. It would also frequently disconnect for extended periods of time for no apparent reason. Both of the ethernet outlets in my room didn't work either so no relief there. On the flip side, the state of the wifi really made me focus on my studies, particularly offline books and assignments. The heating in Cashin is remotely controlled and insufficient if it's colder than 50 degrees outside. The windows aren't double glazed so you'll end up freezing from mid-October onwards unless you buy a separate heater. A separate heater is probably not allowed though so remember to bring a warm jacket or two with you. You can always grab a hot shower for temporary relief, but me mindful that it takes around 5 minutes for the water to properly warm up. Space wise the double rooms are rather limited. There isn't much allocated space for either your belongings or indeed, you. The bare minimum really. There's basically no available independent study spaces either unless of course you have a single room. In terms of maintenance, cleaning seems to work very well. In terms of other maintenance however there was a point in time when all of the vending machines downstairs went unfilled for almost half a semester which is just really weird. Location wise you couldn't really be farther away from the dining halls or other amenities. There is a gym nearby, but it's not as good as the other ones on campus and you'll have to pay for a membership. As for the positive things, the staff is very welcoming and friendly! While I am glad I was able to secure a dorm, I am not really enthusiastic about this place. All things considered, 800 dollars a month for a cold poorly heated and insulated shared room with old and limited amenities including a dysfunctional wifi, poor location, and varying commitment towards maintenance is not exactly what I would call fair or reasonable.
