About Reid
Reid Hall is a traditional residence hall at Sweet Briar College, known for its stunning architecture and southern charm. The building features grand columns, high ceilings, and historical parlor rooms that exude a welcoming atmosphere. With its beautiful design, Reid Hall captures the essence of the college's historic aesthetic. The ground floor of Reid Hall, fondly referred to as the "Pit," serves as a vibrant social hub and one of the largest gathering spaces within a residence hall. It provides students with an inviting environment to socialize, relax, and engage with their peers. Students who have lived in Reid Hall praise its interior features. The dorm rooms are adorned with real wood floors and boast large windows that offer picturesque views of either of the two quads. The closets are spacious, providing ample storage space, and each room comes equipped with beds, desks, dressers, small bookshelves, and a full-length mirror on the back of the door. These amenities contribute to a comfortable and convenient living experience for residents. While Reid Hall has much to offer, there are a few drawbacks to consider. First, the building lacks an elevator, which may pose a challenge for individuals with mobility constraints or heavy luggage. Additionally, some residents have noted that the walls are relatively thin, resulting in sound carrying easily between rooms. This can lead to the potential for overhearing conversations from neighboring rooms. To enhance the living experience, Reid Hall provides a shared kitchen for residents, allowing them to prepare meals and enjoy the comforts of a home-cooked meal. Furthermore, there is a newly renovated lounge within the building where students can gather to socialize or study, providing a comfortable and conducive environment for both relaxation and academic pursuits.

Beautiful dorm with real wood floors and big windows overlooking either of the two quads. The closets are huge, and the room comes with beds, desks, dressers, small bookshelves and a full-length mirror on the back of the door. The only downsides are that there isn't an elevator in the building, and the walls are very thin so you can hear conversations in the next room over. There is also a shared kitchen in the building and a newly redone lounge for hanging out or studying.
