Freshman | March 10
*KEY TOPICS: A. community bathroom, B. Laundry and smells, C. Community D. Dust* A. Vail is community bathroom which I thought I was going DIE when I first found out I was put here lol. its not that bad, you and about 18 other girls share the bathroom and at least on the 3rd floor east east it is 4 showers (I try to go at weird times so that I can get the big corner one bc the other 3 are too small and hard to not touch anything gross, 8 sinks (4 on each side) and 4 bathroom stalls. B. Smell/ Laundry: First semester, anytime I went home my mom immediately made me wash my clothes because of the mildew/ old dorm smell. FYI a tide pod and a dryer sheet won't cut it. Sometimes keeping trash/ dirty laundry in a very small room will accumulate not so great smells. Even after taking out my trash and laundry, vacuuming, dryer sheets in the vents and using room sprays, the smells were still there. - FOR ROOM SMELL: AirWick/ Febreeze PLUG INs. plug in 1-2 around the room and within 2 hours my room smelled GREAT and they last a long time. -What I found that works best for laundry and dorm room smell- Laundry: *I use gain fling PODS (any pods that are cheap/ on sale work too)- (BIG TIP: don't buy liquid detergent. its too much to carry up and down and store.. trust me, spend the extra $2 and get the pods.) * FABRIC SOFTENER adds back the wear and harshness that the cheap dorm washers can strip your clothes of AND it adds another layer of scent to mask the mildew dorm smell that sticks to clothes so bad. (I like the downy "calm" one bc it matches my other scents but the downey "April fresh" is a fan favorite and a cult classic.) *SCENT BOOSTER BEADS add more scent. These were the GAME CHANGER for me. I saw them on sale at Target and thought id give it a try and OMG. 10/10 recommend the Downey "calm" In wash scent beads. *DRYER SHEETS are essential. I dint have them the whole 1st semester bc I honestly just forgot they existed and then my mom got me some for
