DO NOT DO IT!!!!!!! It is an absolute hell hole. The floorboards are creaking from above in a way where you fear the ceiling will cave in. It does not help when you have to have very overweight people living above you as a bonus. There is absolutely no ventilation in the kitchen. If you cook, expect temperatures around 90° and humidity at 80%. Probably also why the fire alarm is set off often in the house. I do not know what is louder: the cars rushing past outside, the bells from the commuter rail, the crackling ceiling, or the fricking laundry room, which has a pressurized water pump that, when it goes off in the middle of the night, makes you feel like you are in a machine room in an old vessel. And to top it all off, you are paying close to $ 2000/month while living with another person in a tiny apartment that honestly looks like a crackhouse. If, as a bonus, you also happen to be on the lowest level, you will also enjoy having people walk by and peek in constantly. One random guy walking his dog actively bent down to take a look. Every time somebody parks outside or drives away, you jump at every door slam. In our bathroom, the toilet seat is completely discolored and scratched. Paint is peeling off from the ceiling in the shower, with a mold problem just waiting to happen. And it does not matter where you are in the apartment, from your room to the kitchen to the bathroom, expect to hear stomping from above you. I do not understand how a university can take advantage of students in such a manner. I am honestly shocked and disturbed.
